The scenically outstanding tour to the Furkel Hut impresses with its breathtaking view of the heavily glaciated Ortler massif. On the trail down to Trafoi we also experience the ultimate in downhill fun.

The ascent to Gomagoi and the descent from Trafoi on the busy Stelvio road are admittedly not particularly enjoyable. But as soon as we leave the road, it becomes much more pleasant and quiet. Initially on narrow asphalt roads, later on forest paths, we ride, always accompanied by a gigantic panorama, via the Prader Alm up to the Furkelhütte. Here we enjoy the unique view of the impressive mountain world around the Ortler and the Stilfser Joch during a cosy stop. Finally, an exciting, not always easy single trail leads us down, in part steeply, over the ski slope. The rapid descent only ends in Trafoi, where we meet up with the pass road again.

Prad on the Stilfser Joch

Turn-by-turn directions

Start of the tour in Prad am Stilfser Joch. On the Stilfserjoch road over Stilfser bridge to Gomagoi. First follow the country road to Stilfs. At the next crossroads, turn left onto the road towards Prader Alm. Pass the hamlet of Platz to the Fragges farm. From here take the forest road to the Prader Alm and continue to the Furkelhütte (2153 m, refreshments available). Return along the same path to the first crossroads. From there, take trail no. 17 in the direction of Trafoi (trail). After passing under the cable car, continue straight ahead on trail no. 17a. Junction with the Stilfserjochstraße road at Trafoi. On this road via Gomagoi and Stilfser Brücke bridge back to Prad am Stilfser Joch.

Sufficient consideration for pedestrians should be a matter of course for us, especially on the much frequented hiking trails around the Furkelhütte.
