Tires’ very own Monte Cavone/Tschafon is a wonderful place to explore on a winter’s snowshoe expedition with masses of views over the legendary Catinaccio/Rosengarten.

Turn-by-turn directions

The start of the tour, which leads past the Wuhnleger and leads on and up the Monte Cavone/Tschafon, is at the Bagni di Lavina Bianca/Weißlahnbad. The first stage leads along trail no. 6. At the turn-off towards Wuhnleger (no. 4A), the ascent leads to an observation deck with a view over the Catinaccio/Rosengarten. Turning off to your right, the path takes you to the Monte Cavone hut/Tschafonhütte. The way back to the Bagni di Lavina Bianca/Weißlahnbad follows the same path as the ascent. 

Getting there

The set-off point is Bagni di Lavina Bianca/ Weißlahnbad. Bus 176 will bring you to S. Cipriano/ St. Zyprian and from there you can hike to Bagni di Lavina Bianca in half an hour. Alternatively, you can drive here. Parking facilities are available at the Visitor’s centre Tires-Catinaccio/Tiers am Rosengarten in Bagni di Lavina.
