This walk has been named after the important German painter Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528). During his first trip to Venice, in 1494, due to a flood in the Adige Valley, he had to make a detour through Pochi di Salorno to the Val di Cembra. It is delightful to follow the historical trail through these enchanted woods. We can walk past the Pochi di Salorno mill, past the earth pyramids and the Segonzano Castle, which Dürer immortalized in his paintings.

Turn-by-turn directions

The Dürer path begins in Piazza Libertà in Laghetti. Take path no. 7 to head south through the village and the tennis court. After quite a steep climb, you are rewarded with an exceptional view across the Bassa Atesina. A paved path leads to a Roman bridge, which continues along the rio Lauco gorge. Then follow the wide path to the right up to Pochi di Salorno. There take path no. 3. Before you come back, you can visit artist Sieglinde Tatz-Borgogno’s sculpture garden. This garden is located below the church of St. Ursula and displays more than 200 impressive bronze and marble figures. The sculpture garden can be visited for free all year round. Path no. 3A goes back down into the valley. The last stretch of the walk is along path no. 5, passing in front of the Karneid residence among orchards and vineyards until you get back to Laghetti.

You can continue the excursion until the Sauch mountain hut and then into Val di Cembra up to Segonzano.
