This short winter hike from Trafoi to the Weisser Knott restaurant gives hikers the opportunity to take in the first few hairpin turns on the legendary Stilfserjoch pass road. It is essential to check the weather and avalanche conditions before departure as the road features a number of exposed sections.

Turn-by-turn directions

This winter hike on the Stilfserjoch pass road starts above the mountain village of Trafoi, at the junction where the path leading to the “Heilige Drei Brunnen” pilgrimage site begins. You will reach the Weisser Knott restaurant in a little over an hour’s walking time. Once you have replenished your strength with a cup of tea or hot chocolate, follow the same trail back to the original starting point.
If you would rather not return on foot, you can ride down the mountain pass on a toboggan.
