Ski fans will love the Alta Badia ski area with its 500 kilometres of slopes with direct ski connections and its direct access to the famous Sellaronda ski circuit. Three Michelin-starred restaurants and a variety of gourmet restaurants and mountain huts will delight all foodies. Here the chefs know how to adapt the ancient local recipes to the needs of modern gastronomy.

For all lovers of great skiing and devotees of good food, Alta Badia means "A taste for skiing".

Ski/Snowboard

The ski resort Alta Badia consists of 130 km of slopes for all tastes and for all skill levels: 70 km of blue runs, 52 km of red runs and 8 km of black runs. Furthermore, the skiing area of Alta Badia is part of the Dolomiti Superski ski carousel: with just one ski pass you can explore a total of 1,200 kilometres of ski slopes.

Families and beginners who visit Alta Badia will relish skiing on the wide snowy meadows on the Piz La Villa, Piz Sorega and the Pralongia plateau. Expert skiers will choose the more demanding slopes such as the Vallon slope, at the foot of the Sella massif, or the Ski World Cup slope Gran Risa, while the most relaxed skiers will find the perfect places to ski on the wide and sunny slopes of the Val Stella Alpina and Santa Croce.

Snowboarders and freestylers can enjoy themselves in one of the three snow parks, suitable for both beginners and experienced snowboarders. One of the three parks is tailor-made especially for children who want to try their first tricks on skis or snowboards.

Families with children will enjoy the snow-covered meadows, where children can have fun playing in the snow, and the wide slopes, on which the youngest skiers can try their first descents. The instructors of the Alta Badia ski schools and ski kindergartens introduce children to the secrets of skiing patiently and playfully so that they cannot help falling in love with this beautiful sport.

The ski schools in Alta Badia also have custom-made programmes for people with disabilities.

The Sellaronda

Alta Badia is one of the four valleys on the Sellaronda, with its 40 km round trip around the Sella massif. Although the Sellaronda slopes are mostly of medium difficulty, skiers need to be experienced and have good physical endurance.

The Sellaronda connects the four valleys Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa and the circuit can be started in any one of them. The tour, with amazing views of some of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites, winds through snow-covered woods and pastures and passes beneath towering rock faces.

In order to enjoy the Sellaronda in peace and tranquillity, you are recommended to start the tour before 10.00 in the morning. You can ski the Sellaronda in a clockwise as well as in an anti- clockwise direction.

Nordic/Winter hiking

For those who enjoy cross-country skiing, there are two distinct areas in Alta Badia. The largest one is in San Cassiano/Armentarola. Here you can ski surrounded by the peaks of Conturines, Lavarela and Lagazuoi on tracks of various levels of difficulty which have been prepared for ski skating and for classic skiing. In Corvara you will find a cross-country ski trail of easy to medium difficulty.

Nature lovers and hikers will come into their own on the well-prepared winter walking trails that connect the villages and the typical farms of Alta Badia. And, those who want to spend a holiday dedicated to relaxation and shopping will love San Cassiano. Its pedestrian zone is probably the smallest but also one of the most fashionable in the whole of Italy.
