From the car park in St. Jakob am Thurn, this hike leads via the Pointgut and Kugelgartengut to Kurhotel Vollererhof. At the Hochgolsgut, continue along the forestry path as far as the turn-off for the Erentrudisalm. Along the way, turn-offs lead to the Schönalm or even to the Mühlstein.

From the Erentrudisalm, follow the path leading back along the forestry path, or take the path past Gut "Stein an der Wand" to the Hochstadlgut. From there, return via the same route or take the Tiersteig, Kainzreith and Hochgols, returning to the start in St. Jakob

Author’s recommendation

  •  At the Vollerhof, there are 3 other marked hiking paths from the Kurhotel. One of these leads through the wildlife feeding area, where you will also find a shortcut to the Schönalm.

  • At the Erentrudisalm, you will find a big playground

  • Between Kainzreith and Hochgols, a small forest path takes you to the picturesque waterfall on the Kehlbach.  Important: Enter at your own risk!

  • In St. Jakob am Thurn, be sure to take a walk around the small lake, with wonderful reflections in the water of the castle tower and parish church.

  • Next to the Schützenwirt is a playground for children.

Destination

St. Jakob am Thurn

Turn-by-turn directions

From St. Jakob, head south to the Pointweg. Follow this lane uphill, past the Pointgut and the Kugelgartengut to Vollererhofstraße. Now uphill through just a few more turns before reaching Kurhotel Vollererhof.  Passing the wildlife feeding station, at the Hochstadl you will pass through a gate and hike gently uphill along a forestry road. You have two opportunities, in both cases at a left-hand curve, to make a right to the Schönalm and/or the Hubertus Chapel (No. 12 and No. 12a).

Keeping left, after a few curves you will come to the turn-off for the Erentrudisalm. In another 300 meters or so, you have the option to take the shorter forest path (No. 11) or the longer forestry road (No. 11d) to the Erentrudisalm. The return hike from the Erentrudisalm begins ca. 100 meters downhill next to a car park. Then, turn left onto a narrow paved road, which later becomes quite steep, in the direction of the Schwarzenbergalm. Before the actual building, as well as after about 200 meters, turn right and cross a small meadow dropping downhill into a forest. Now, downhill along a hiking trail through forest with several clearings, treating you to splendid views of Salzburg City. Continue to the crossing below the Hochstadlgut, where you can choose between the shorter route leading up to Kurhotel Vollererhof (No. 11c) or the longer variant of path No. 11 dropping downhill via the Tiersteig, Kainzreith and Hochgols back to St. Jakob.
