The alpine huts are open from the end of June to September and the dairy farmers serve excellent, homemade cheese specialties

Turn-by-turn directions

Exceptionally beautiful mountain tour, alpine in character. The route leads from thewestern side of the Gosausee towards the south, taking you gently uphill through forest.Once you cross the tree line, enjoy open views of the Däumling (mountain climbermonument). After ca. 4 hrs. you will reach Steigl Pass (2012 m, highest point). Nowdrop steeply downhill to the Hofpürglhütte (lodging option) and follow the Austria Wegalong the entire western flank of the Gosaukamm. After the Stuhlalm and Theodor-Körner-Hütte you will come to the Zwieselalm, then drop back down to Gosausee.

You can reach Gosau by bus no. 542 from Bad Ischl. Information about the travel times can be found at www.oebb.at

Getting there

Coming from the A10 motorway, take the exit Golling direction Abtenau and Russbach. From Bad Ischl you drive via Bad Goisern to Gosau.

Parking

You will find enough parking area at the Gosaulake.
