Turn-by-turn directions

Difficulty: T=turistic

Start from S. Sebastiano’s square in Fiavè, following the high street across town, walk down to S. Zeno’s church featuring a Ghibelline bell tower and gothic elements of the XV century. At the bell tower turn right and walk 100 metres down a lane lined with houses. As you come to the last house turn left and continue through the fields towards the borough of Stumiaga. At the first crossing, turn right to reach shortly after the small church of S. Antonio Abate, dating XV century. Turn left following the main road, Strada Statale N° 421 dei Laghi di Molveno e di Tenno, until you reach the cemetery where you leave the main road and turn right. After fifty metres, turn left after passing two farm shops on the right. This paved road leads downhill, through the countryside, to the small village of Dasindo. Enter the village, passing a group of rural houses, until you arrive at the church of Assunta. Inside the church, you will find - around the altar - frescoes by the famous painters Baschenis, dating early ‘500 and, resting by the north wall, the tomb of Giovanni Prati, distinguished poet of ‘800. From the church square, you can spot the poets’ native home at the end of the road. After the visit to the church, continue on the road that descends on the right side and after, turn right again walking towards Val Lomasona. After crossing the bridge over the stream Carera, turn right leaving the cemetery and the road for Val Lomasona on your left. Proceed through the countryside along a steep road until you get to the small borough of Favrio: located at the foot of Mount Misone, the village is well known for the absence of direct sunlight from November to the beginning of February. On the 3rd of February, the town celebrates the return of sunlight with a town fair. On the elevated part of town, you can catch a glimpse of S. Biagio’s church, dated XVI century. From the town square, that sits atop tall walls, you can admire the Lomaso plains and the beggining of Val Lomasona. Pass the village and carry on towards Fiavè crossing the stream Carera near al Molino - an old water mill - to reach Strada Statale 421 along a gentle slope. Cross the road and enter the one to Fiavè; after a few hundred metres, you will arrive in S. Sebastiano’s square, starting point of this walk.

Equipment

There is nowhere to stop off for refreshments along the trail so you are advised to bring water and something to eat

You need to be wearing the right clothing and take the proper gear when you go hiking in the mountains. Even on relatively short easy outings make sure to take all you need so you don't run into trouble if things take an unexpected turn, for example a storm blows up or you have a sudden drop in energy levels.

What should you take when you go on a hike?

What you should have in your rucksack (for a day trip a 25/30L capacity should do):

  • water canteen (1L)
  • snacks (e.g. mixed dried fruit or chocolate)
  • First aid kit
  • windproof jacket
  • fleece
  • change of t-shirt and socks (in a plastic bag)
  • make sure to wear or at least bring a pair of long trousers
  • hat
  • sun screen
  • sunglasses
  • gloves
  • whistle to attract attention in an emergency

Emergency telephone number:  112

Make sure you're wearing the right footwear for the trail and season. The going can get rough and rocky underfoot and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains. When wet, a grassy slope, rocky slab or steep trail can be dangerous unless you are wearing the proper footwear.

And finally... ... don't forget to bring your camera! You'll need it to capture the stunning views you come across all over Garda Trentino. And if you like, you can share your memories with us at #GardaTrentino.
