Comano Trail from Ballino Pass to Duron Pass

Author’s recommendation

You don't have points of support and in locality Gavardina the path becomes quite technical and in some stretches it is exposed. At the end of the path you will arrive at the mountain hut Passo Durone.

If you want you can reach the peak Dos della Torta.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the pass go to the village of Ballino, where you have to take the SAT path n. 420 that goes to Malga Nardis and “Doss de la Torta”, continue on the forest road to loc. Indos (1160 m a.s.l.) and then to loc. Rocchetta (1326 m a.s.l.)

Loc. Rocchetta 6,00 km – When the forest road ends, take the path that crosses the feet of the rocks “Fontanaie” and then a stream; continue on the path of the “Zete” that will lead you through a beech forest and to the pass that goes in the direction of Malga Nardis (1727 m a.s.l.)

Malga Nardis 8,34 km – Once you’ve reached the alpine hut, pass it and go in the direction of Grepere di Nardis (1900 m a.s.l.); then you will arrive at Doss della Torta (2100 m a.s.l.)

Sella Doss della Torta 10,95 km – from here continue on the rocky path in the direction of Gavardina (2047 m a.s.l.)

Gavardina 15,56 km – Follow the path that unwinds on the ridgeline until you reach “Madonnina”; from here go in the direction of “Bochet della Meda”, crossing “Rodola” and Mount Altissimo on the SAT path n. 463. Then continue under the Meda peak towards Pala peak, shortly after you will arrive at sella di Solvia (1950 m a.s.l.)

Sella di Solvia 16,7 km – From here you have to cross Mount Solvia and “Cimone dei Orti” on a technical path (be careful not to slip on the steep descent!), then head towards loc. Piazzola where you will find a little Virgin Mary (1572 m a.s.l.)

Loc. Piazzola 19,71 km – From the little Virgin Mary descend to Malga Stabio (1453 m a.s.l.) and then continue towards Durone Pass (986 m a.s.l.)

Getting there

From Ponte Arche/Comano Terme go in the directions of Ballino Pass (about 10 km).

Free parking lot at Ballino Pass.
