A fascinating itinerary leading into the heart of the Maddalena Group, mountains that are not highly frequented and therefore silent and peaceful.
Distance 10.3 km
Loop excursion from the well-known Malga Bordolona and back. The itinerary is never too steep and after reaching Lake Trenta, it circumvents the namesake peak and climbs up Val Clapa and then back down to Malga Bordolona.
The best time of year to hike into the Maddalena Group is in July, when the immense expanses of Rhododendrons are in full bloom and the valleys are tinged with an intense pink hue.On your way back, it is worth stopping off for some tasty treats at Malga Bordolona country house which sells its home-made cheeses.
