In an area that has always been good pasture land, the Rifugio Capanna Grassi - owned by the Riva del Garda District Council - now welcomes lovers of traditional Trentino cuisine, as well as the increasingly numerous mountain bike enthusiasts who cycle up from the Upper Garda plain to Malga Grassi and treat themselves to a stop at the Rifugio Capanna Grassi’s outdoor tables. The refuge can also be easily reached by car (plus a short walk). On the road up from Riva del Garda you’ll see the detour to the Monte San Martino archaeological site, an ancient place of worship with remains dating back to the third century BC. Open Every day from May to October Weekends only during March, April, October and November Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks It’s an easy in 1 ½ hour walk (difficulty E) to the Rifugio Nino Pernici alla Bocca di Trat, and from there you can return to Campi and to the Capanna Grassi via Bocca Saval and Cima Sclapa (3 ½ hours, difficulty E). On your way up to the refuge, just before Campi, you can visit the Monte di San Martino archaeological site.

By road

The refuge can be accessed by car from Campi (above Riva del Garda) on a surfaced road as far as Malga Pranzo (car park), then continue on foot for 10 minutes.
