The Rifugio Nino Pernici is located near the Bocca di Trat. It is a sought-after destination for hikers and mountain bikers that travel the numerous trails and mule tracks that mark these panoramic mountain sides.

Author’s recommendation

By taking short detours from the trail, it is possible to reach the panoramic “Cima Caret” and “Dos da Trat”, which offer sweeping views over the mountains of the Ledro area and of Lake Garda.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the parking area, you follow the road that leads up to MalgaTrat (1502 m). Here, instead of continuing towards the RifugioPernici along trail 403, you turn right, following a forest road that heads south. The road ends and the trail begins, up a slight incline that gains height as it gradually crosses beneath the “Dos del Seaoi” and “Dos da Trat” peaks.

The path stops crossing, and climbs a winding route towards the dip (1785 m) which separates the ridge connecting the Dos da Trat - on the left, with Cima Caret, on the right (both peaks are quick and easy to reach).

You continue, now heading down towards BoccaSaval (1740 m), where you join trail 413 heading for the RifugioPernici. You follow trail 413 (GB Garda Brenta) and reach the RifugioPernici (1600 m) after a long crossing on a good path.

Not far beyond the hut lies Bocca di Trat (1518 m). From here, you turn left onto trail 403 towards MalgaTrat and you return to the starting point to close the ring.

Getting there

SS240 of  Val di Ledro to Bezzecca, where you turn towards Val di Concei. At the hamletof Lenzumo, you turn right, following the directions for the Rifugio Nino Pernici. You follow the paved road that climbs up the wooded side of the mountain to the parking area at 1460 m above sea level.
