This is one of the most beautiful, panoramic and emotional paths of the Alpe Cimbra! Take care: it is not so easy; cliffs and steep precipices expose to risk some parts of the path. It is suitable for trained people. Have a nice trip!

People say that during on a clear day, especially after a nightly storm, from the peak of the monte Maggio it is possible to see the Laguna of Venice. Do you not believe it? Yes, you need to be lucky to trek the “right day”, but when it is so… it is true! The Monte Maggio was the peak of Italia in the South part of Trentino. Here, one hundred years ago, there was the borderline between Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy. The big cross and the trenches remember you it. What an amazing panorama from here! To come back with the MTB you can go through the grazing lands of Malga Melegna, near the lake of Coe (with a fresh break to the Hangar Bar) until the Coe pass. Do you not know that at the restaurants Osteria Coe and La Stua there are appetizing jam tarts and pie?

Author’s recommendation

Attention to some steps in the outward journey. The path it's on the edges of a slope that is very steep.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the dirty park of the crossroads of Camini, you must start in direction mount Maggio (see the road signage). Through a comfortable dirty road, you will reach the dosso delle Cargaore (wide panorama to the Terragnòlo valley and to the Pasubio massif). Go ahead on the dirty road, an ex-military road, until the peak of the mount Maggio, through the mount Maronia. In the final part, the street becomes a path. Pay attention: cliffs exposes to risk some parts of the path. Before to reach the peak a recess in the mountain will take you on the north side. Turning at the right you reach the ex-military road Malga Zonta - monte Maggio. The bottom is hard, made from emerged stone. From here follow the road until the peak, where is a metal cross, which remembers the fallen of the First World War. There is an amazing view, in all the directions, also to the valleys in Veneto. The return is at the beginning the same of the outward journey, but when you reach the recess go ahead on the north side. The road climbs straight down. When you reach the first hairpin bend, pay attention to the road signage: litter the dirty road and take a path passing through ex grazing lands and larches woods. You will reach Passo Coe and here turn at the left on the main road. After 300 m you will reach the starting point.
