Leaving the Valsugana behind you, make your way up the Val Campelle to venture into the heart of the Lagorai, where Trentino takes on a wilder aspect. On this road up the valley, just before the Conseria pastures, you’ll find the Rifugio Carlettini, completely renovated in 2010 according to eco-sustainability criteria. Mountain bikers, walkers and horse riders now make their way up here on roads that were tramped by soldiers a hundred years ago. The noises of the valley don’t reach this far, instead the soundtrack is of water coming down to the valley from the numerous mountain lakes that colour these parts of the Lagorai with patches of blue. Open All year round Closed Christmas and November Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks Continue along the Val Campelle road beyond the Consèria bridge to get to the Rifugio Malga Conseria (1 hour) and from there to Passo Cinque Croci (another 40 minutes). Alternatively, a path below the refuge takes you to the Rifugio Caldenave (1 hour 35 minutes, E). It’s about two hours to get to the little Montalon lake (E) passing Malga Montalon. It’s possible to walk down to Lago delle Stellune via Forcella di Montalon.
