Destination

Baita Sport & Gourmet - Le Melette

Turn-by-turn directions

From LeMelette Sport & Gourmet hut we follow the road to Valle di Campomulo, which opens to the north towards Ortigara, leaving behind the village of Gallio, the Baita and the ski lifts. We follow the main asphalted road, following the traffic regulations. After 300 metres, we turn left at the first junction leading to the Busafonda speed skating rink. Shortly afterwards, still on the left, we can see a small Alpine church dedicated to the veterans of Russia. We turn right and leave Malga Busafonda – the ideal time for a snack with typical products at km 0. After about 500 metres, at the crossroads with Centro Fondo Gallio - Rifugio Campomulo, we go straight uphill and continue along the asphalt road towards Rifugio Campomuletto. Halfway up, we turn right and take the Marcesina road back towards Sbarbatal. At the top of the hill, at the entrance to Campomuletto, we can enjoy a splendid panoramic view of the Dolomites up to Marmolada. In Campomuletto, which starts near the refuge, after an hour and a half walk, we can visit the Sentiero del Silenzio - Porta della Memoria. The monument is dedicated to peace among the men, who died on the battlefield of the First World War. We then descend slightly along the main road, which is no longer asphalted. After 800 metres, on the left, there is the turnoff for Malga Fiara. We cycle slightly downhill towards Malga Mandrielle, which is reached shortly afterwards. Here we can taste the typical products of the region, from the famous Asiago di Malga cheese to the traditional Vicenza meat, accompanied by good wine. Near the entrance to Malga Mandrielle, there is a small reconstructed Austro-Hungarian military cemetery on the right. After 100 metres we turn right and head towards Ortigara - Piazzale Lozze headed towards the famous Piana di Marcesina near Malga Buson, after a few kilometres downhill. At the last bend, a road through the woods destroyed by the Vaia storm leads to Rifugio Barricata. A short descent of a few minutes and we are on the pastures of Marcesina Trentina. Here we have the opportunity to stop. We follow the asphalted road, which climbs slightly until we return to Veneto. When we see the Albergo Marcsina, we see a turn-off to the left towards Malga Val Coverta. Continue along the dirt road in this direction, leaving Malga IV Lotto Marcesina on our right. Back in Trentino, the road is asphalted again on the way to Malga Val Coverta di Sotto. We turn right and keep going downhill until we reach the exit of the pasture where there is a junction behind the fence. Continue to the right of the aqueducts along the flat road that gradually rises above the woods. After a few hairpin bends uphill, the large clearing of Malga Val Brutta appears. We leave the Malga and the turnoff. On the left, we leave the farmhouses on both sides behind us to begin the descent towards Val Maron. A cosy hut awaits us for refreshment - or even better - to enjoy the delicacies of the mountain cuisine. We return for 100 metres on the road we have just crossed and continue on an asphalted flat road towards Marcesina. The Vaia storm has opened up new perspectives: It is worth observing the power of nature and the impulses of the October wind.

In a short time, we reach Marcesina and the hut of the same name on the right. For those who haven't had enough, here is another possibility!

Immediately after the crossroads, we turn left slightly uphill and, after a few hundred metres, leave Malga I Lotto Marcesina and, on the left, under the road, a new junction awaits us.

This time we continue along the white road towards Malga Campo Cavallo, Bocchette, Sbarbatal.
