A beautifull Autumn day to walk though the pastoral fields of Canton Thurgau with it's many apple and walnut trees. The walk involved a little walking on pathments but was otherwise very pleasant. Stopping in Affletrangen to visit the Reformed church , I was admiring a modern cross on the opposite side of the road. A man drew up to park in front of the adjoining house and he turned out to be the sulpter himself. We discussed his work and he was also responsible for the stone 'Way of the Cross' that we had seen earlier. His name is Bernard Lüthi. He invited us to drink coffee on his terrace and we spent a pleasant time learning of the local history and in particular about the trials of the Roman Catholic and Protestant farmers of the not too distant past. We continued on to Tobel where we also visited the church.
